Heating the furnace
Hand-hammered B20 bronze cymbals from Turkey’s largest cymbal production facility, in Samsun.
Copper melts at 1,085°C, tin at just 232°C. Poured together, eighty parts to twenty, they become B20 bronze.
About three days and at least seven processes. All of it by hand.
Cymbals have been made by hand in Turkey for centuries. We carry that craft forward, so no two Diril cymbals ever sound the same.
Since 2008, every Diril has been made by one family, under one roof in Samsun.

The craft. Seven steps from fire to sound.
Copper melts at 1,085°C, tin at 232°C. Melted together, eighty parts copper to twenty parts tin, they become B20 bronze.
The molten bronze is poured into a small, thick disc. Around 15 cm wide and 5 cm thick, every cymbal starts here.
Heated again and again, the disc is rolled out pass after pass until it reaches its size.
A heat treatment in the oven gives the bronze its strength and its spring.
The bell is formed at the centre. Its shape decides much of how the cymbal will speak.
Thousands of strikes by hand. This is where a cymbal finds its character, and why no two are the same.
Tonal grooves are cut on the lathe and the final weight is set. Then we listen, and only then does it leave the factory.
B20 bronze cymbals made by one family, from the first pour to the last pass on the lathe. Thirty-four series, every one shaped by hand.

Hand-picked from our standard series by our founder, then finished with deeper, more precise hammering and a flatter profile. Every Master Design cymbal carries his signature.
